Dedication of Camp Amphitheater
Memorial Day Highlight Sunday

"A Memorial Day highlight for San Luis Obispans and servicemen will be the dedication of the memorial Amphitheater at Camp San Luis Obispo Sunday at 2:15 p.m., followed by a two-hour program by the 11th Naval District Coast Guard band under the direction of Chief Warrant Officer Rudy Vallee.  The ceremony will follow a formal parade on the main parade ground nearby, at 1:15 o'clock, by the 1st Infantry Regiment and components under command of Col. F. H. Privett.

"For the convenience of visitors, special details of soldiers will be on hand to direct the crowd and distribute illustrated programs, and the grounds will be posted with guides to parking and restroom facilities.

"The Amphitheater bowl will seat more than 12,000, but residents of the county who attend are advised to bring blankets or pillows for seats.

"An invitation is extended by Col. Henry T. Bull, camp commander, to the public throughout the county to attend.  Entrance will be by the main gate near Post headquarters, and Military Police will direct traffic to the parade grounds and bowl.  Special bus transportation will be available for the 12:30 noon run to camp, according to the Greyhoud Bus Company."
